Several thefts under investigation by Penticton RCMP

PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP are investigating the theft of a couple trailers, some tires and the coins from aparment building washing machines.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Ted Manchulenko says a small flat deck trailer was stolen from the driveway of a Churchill Avenue home in the early morning hours of March 26. The tandem axle trailer is custom built, with bright LED lights on the rear.

A light trailer was also taken from Westminster Rentals on Government Street sometime early March 18.

On Friday, March 24, someone climbed the fence at Huber Chevrolet on Westminster Avenue and took four tires, which barely fit in the suspect’s car. Police have a vehicle of interest and are investigating the incident.

Manchulenko also reports continuing laundry room washing machine coin theft in apartment complexes. He says two more laundry rooms were hit last week on Victoria and Abbott Streets. The method of operation was similar in both cases, with washing machine coin receptacles pried open and more damage resulting to the equipment than what was taken in the thefts.

Penticton RCMP are looking for a trailer similar to the one shown in this submitted photo. The stolen trailer is red and was taken from Westminster Rentals on March 18, 2017. | Credit: SUBMITTED/RCMP

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. My goal in the news industry has always been to deliver accurate and interesting articles about local people and places. My interest in the profession is life long - from my earliest memories of grade school, I have enjoyed writing.
As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.
I also spent several years at an Okanagan Falls based lumber mill, producing glued-wood laminated products.
As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
Our two daughters, Meagan and Hayley, reside in Richmond and Victoria, respectively.
