FLOOD WATCH 2017: High water creates concerns for residents on BX Creek in Vernon

VERNON – Water, and nerves, are rising this morning for residents living along the BX Creek in Vernon.

Creek levels are high in the 4900 block of 20 Street, according to a media release from the City of Vernon.

“This area was also affected by last weekend’s high water,” communications officer Tanya Laing Gahr says in the release.

Sand and sandbags have been delivered to help those working on site, she says.

With more rain in the forecast today and continued runoff, residents are reminded that sand and sandbags are available in the following locations:

• 4005 Pleasant Valley Road
• Okanagan Hills Blvd and Bella Vista Road intersection (entrance to The Rise community)
• Vernon City Operations (1900 48 Avenue) outside main gate of Pleasant Valley Road
• Corner of Okanagan Avenue and Okanagan Landing Road (across from Marshall Field)
