Central Okanagan search and rescue teams respond twice on Victoria Day

KELOWNA – An injured mountain biker and a missing woman were both rescued within 90 minutes of each other in the Kelowna area yesterday.

Eight members of the Central Okanagan Search and Rescue team responded yesterday, May 23, to an injured mountain biker after he had gone over his handle bars, according to a media release.

Crews were assisted by search and rescue helicopter, as well as a helicopter from the B.C. Air Ambulance Service. The man was transported to Kelowna General Hospital.

The second incident involved a woman who had walked away from her truck near Big White Road and Highway 33. Searchers located the uninjured woman in a ravine not far from where she was last seen.
