Crash of small plane claims lone pilot in southeastern British Columbia

VANCOUVER – The pilot of a Cessna 337 has been killed in the crash of his small plane in southeastern B.C.

Transportation Safety Board official Bill Yearwood says the plane was located in the hills near Crawford Bay, about 50 kilometres northeast of Nelson after a brief search on Wednesday night.

He says the pilot, who was alone in the twin-engine plane, died at the scene.

The man, who’s name has not been released, had taken off from Nelson at about 1 p.m.

He was intending to make the six hour flight to La Ronge, Sask., but was reported overdue several hours after takeoff.

Yearwood says TSB investigators are travelling to the site and more information could be released later
