Have donations for people evacuated due to wildfires? You’ll need to hold on to them a little longer

KAMLOOPS – Those wishing to help people displaced by wildfires will need to wait a little before their donations can be taken.

As evacuees seek refuge from the wildfires threatening homes across the Thompson Nicola Regional District the district is trying to prioritize its operations today, July 7. At this time that means ensuring people have their basic needs taken care of, according to a press release from the regional district.

Currently evacuees have been relocated to Clearwater and Kamloops. While accommodation and food is being organized, people with donations for those affected will need to hold on to them.

“We are asking all generous donations be held at this time by donors until we can provide further information on what items are required by evacuees and where donations can be dropped off,” says district information officer Debbie Sell.
