CFL fines Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Durant for tweet to fan
TORONTO – The CFL fined Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Darian Durant on Wednesday for sending an inappropriate tweet in response to a league fan.
In accordance with CFL policy, the league didn’t disclose the amount of the penalty.
But Durant was fined for violating the league’s social media policy when he sent an offensive message via his Twitter account.
There was no immediate word from the league regarding whether Toronto Argonauts defensive lineman Cleyon Laing would be fined for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Edmonton Eskimos quarterback Mike Reilly on Saturday.
Reilly was evaluated on the field right after the hit and remained in the game for one more play, throwing a TD pass.
Upon returning to the sidelines, he was found to be showing concussion-like symptoms and was replaced by backup Kerry Joseph.
On Sunday, the Eskimos confirmed Reilly had suffered a concussion.
