Kamloops rapist threatened self harm if victim didn’t comply

CONTENT ADVISORY

A Kamloops man is awaiting his sentence after he threatened a woman that he would kill himself unless she took her clothes off.

He pleaded guilty in a Salmon Arm courtroom on July 9, just a day after he was convicted of a separate sexual assault in Kamloops.

Sebastian William Bradshaw, 30, admitted that he not only made the threat, but sexually assaulted her after she complied at the Hidden Lake campground east of Enderby.

The court heard Bradshaw and the victim, who was roughly ten years younger than him, drove to the campground in February 2023. They were discussing depression and at one point he put a flare gun to his own temple, threatening that the only way he wouldn't pull the trigger would be for her to take her clothes off.

He then forcibly raped her, the court heard.

Bradshaw pleaded guilty to sexual assault with a weapon and remains in custody, coming just a day after a Kamloops judge found him guilty of another sexual assault that took place in May 2022.

That conviction followed a trial where the court heard that Bradshaw failed to use a condom despite the victim's request. The court heard that not only had Bradshaw failed to use a condom, but he also deceived the victim the entire time, using a fake name to hide that fact he was registered as a sex offender.

Lawyers will return to court next month as Bradshaw awaits his sentence.
