Woman’s body found in South Thompson River

KAMLOOPS – Police have confirmed that a woman's body was found in the South Thompson River this morning.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says that officers were notified that a citizen had seen what they believed to be a body in the river this morning, April 4.

Police and the B.C. Coroners Service attended and found the body partially submerged in the river.

The body of a woman was extracted from the river this afternoon, Shelkie says, and her identity has not been confirmed.

Shelkie says at this point it's not believed a criminal offence occurred. Police are continuing to assist the Coroners Service in its investigation.
