Man stabbed after argument over taxi in downtown Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – Police are asking for the public's help after an argument over a taxi in downtown Kamloops turned violent last weekend.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a media release at approximately 1 a.m. on April 28, a man and several friends were waiting for a cab at Victoria Street and 3 Avenue after leaving a nightclub.

When their cab showed up, another man accompanied by a small group of people tried to take the victim's cab, Shelkie says.

An argument ensued between the victim and the suspect, and the suspect pulled a knife and allegedly stabbed the victim.

Shelkie says the suspect then got into a black BMW X5 with Alberta plates and the vehicle sped away.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.

The suspect is described as 6' tall with a slim build, short hair, wearing a ball cap, jeans and a sweater.

Anyone who was with the suspect, who can identify him, or saw the incident are asked to call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
