Harper to attend Saturday’s commemorative ceremony in L’Isle-Verte, Que

L’ISLE-VERTE, Que. – A spokesman for Stephen Harper is confirming the prime minister will attend a commemorative ceremony in L’Isle-Verte this coming Saturday.

Carl Vallee tweeted the news today.

Ten people have been confirmed dead after last Thursday’s blaze at a seniors’ residence in the eastern Quebec town, while another 22 are still missing and presumed dead.

Quebec provincial police are expected to give another update later today.

For days, search crews have struggled to find human remains amid piles of rubble and ash and thick sheets of ice.

About 1,000 people attended a mass in the local church on Sunday.
