Police seek witnesses as they investigate death of man found outside B.C. pub

SQUAMISH, B.C. – Police are investigating the death of a 54-year-old man found lying on the ground outside a pub in Squamish, B.C.

Sgt. Adam MacIntosh of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says RCMP responded to a report of a disturbance outside the Cliffside Pub early Sunday morning.

He says Clifton Mawer was found suffering from a head injury.

Mawer was taken to hospital by ambulance but died Monday.

MacIntosh says IHIT is working with the Mounties to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

Police are asking anyone who was in or near the pub between 11 p.m. Saturday and 2 a.m. Sunday to contact them.
