Police seized 22 weapons, including a loaded firearm, and arrested 25 people during a five-day enforcement operation targeting gang activity, drug trafficking and prolific offenders in Kamloops and Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc last month.
The operation ran from Sept. 23 to 27 and involved the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of B.C.’s Uniform Gang Enforcement Team and the Kamloops RCMP’s Proactive Enforcement Team.

Police say 32 files were created during the operation, including 11 drug-related files.
One man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant was arrested, while police also executed several other warrants.
The weapons seized included brass knuckles, Airsoft guns, batons, bear spray, axes and knives. Police also seized drugs and cash, although the RCMP did not provide quantities or details.

“We continue to focus on disrupting crime, drug trafficking and prolific offenders,” Kamloops RCMP detachment commander Supt. Pelley said in a news release issued today, Oct. 7.
Pelley said the joint operation was part of ongoing efforts to improve community safety through targeted policing.
