Penticton RCMP’s canine unit gets a new recruit
PENTICTON – The Penticton RCMP have a new canine-in-training.
In a press release issued this morning, July 23, Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says Const. Mike Richardson, who is training to become a police dog handler, received his second German Shepherd puppy to train.
Eight week old Lentz was assigned to Richardson from the RCMP’s police dog service handling centre in Innisfail, Alberta, last week.
“The first week has been challenging meeting the demands of this little guy, but it has been rewarding so far. Lentz walks with an attitude already, but I think it’s because his feet are too big for his body,” Const. Richardson says.
Lentz’s potential to become a police dog will be continuously evaluated through the year.
