Cyberlove campaign back for anti-bullying week

PENTICTON – Summerland teens are challenging people all over the world to spread positive messages on social media during anti-bullying week.

Caitie Shaw and Dan Nixon, two high school students from Summerland and founders of the Youth Empowerment Project, started the #cyberlove campaign, which kickstarted earlier this fall. The goal of the campaign was to send a message to someone who really needs is, whether it’s a stranger or a family member.

The duo is bringing back the campaign for Canada’s anti-bullying week, which starts Sunday, Nov. 16 and end Nov. 22.

“Youth live so much through social media and that doesn't have to be a bad thing,” say Shaw and Nixon, who urge youth to take back their Facebook accounts and fill them with positive messages.
