Salmon Arm emergency crews deal with two multi-vehicle crashes in one day

SALMON ARM – Emergency crews in Salmon Arm dealt with two, unrelated multi-vehicle crashes yesterday.

RCMP say the first accident happened around 9:30 a.m. yesterday, Oct. 1, in the intersection of the Trans-Canada Highway and 30 Street NE.

A Dodge truck was waiting to turn left onto 30 Street when a black Volkswagen came through the intersection travelling west on the Trans-Canada, according to an RCMP media release. As a result, the two vehicles collided and sent the truck into another vehicle causing the airbags to deploy.

Police say a fourth vehicle was involved after being hit by debris from the Dodge truck.

Three people from the Volkswagen were taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Then later that day at approximately 4:45 p.m., emergency crews attended another collision, this time at 12 Avenue SE and 15 Avenue SE.

A red Dodge truck was travelling west on 12 Avenue when a black Hyundai entered the intersection after stopping at 15 Avenue. Police say the driver of the Dodge truck attempted to avoid the collision but did not succeed and ended up colliding with the other vehicle and rolling over.

Police say both drivers were uninjured and both vehicles were towed from the scene.
