QUEBEC – The main opposition parties at Quebec’s legislature are being sworn in today.
Most of the 30 Parti Quebecois members elected April 7 were sworn in this morning while the 22 members of the Coalition for Quebec’s Future will have their ceremony this afternoon.
It’s all taking place as premier-designate Philippe Couillard meets with his own team to put the final touches on a cabinet that is to be announced Wednesday.
The Liberals’ 70-member caucus was sworn in last week.
For PQ members, today is bittersweet. The party formed a minority government that lasted for about 18 months before its heavy defeat at the polls two weeks ago.
A few of the PQ caucus members were missing from the ceremony as was the Canadian flag, which was removed for the sovereigntist party’s swearing-in.
