On April 13, 2013 the Osoyoos RCMP received a report of a hit and run on Spartan Drive. A witness called to report seeing a small black vehicle back into a parked car and drive off without checking for damage. The witness was quick to obtain a licence plate from the offending vehicle and provided same to police. The Osoyoos RCMP tracked down the vehicle, a 2003 Toyota Camry at a local residence and noted minor damage consistent with the reported collision. The registered owner, a 59 year old Osoyoos resident was issued a violation ticket for ‘Backing While Unsafe’ and for ‘Failing to Remain at the Scene of Accident’.
On April 14, 2013 the Osoyoos RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 3 near Peregrine Road. The driver of a 2000 Toyota Rav 4 lost control in snow and went off road striking a power pole before rolling over onto the driver’s side. The driver and passenger, both residents of Osoyoos were unharmed.
On April 14, 2013 the Osoyoos RCMP responded to a disturbance on Main Street after an employee of a downtown business took exception to a street musician playing his music at a decibel which the employee determined to be excessive. The employee decided against better judgment to chase and intimidate the musician. Police intervened and warned the employee about his actions as well as educated him on the proper avenues to deal with noise complaints.
