Okanagan skies clearing, temperatures falling with December’s approach

KELOWNA – The month of November will end cloudy and wet in the Okanagan, as December starts in contrast with more seasonal temperatures and clearing skies.

Environment Canada meteorologist Bobby Sekhon says showers today, Nov. 29, will eventually change to flurries later this week as temperatures cool off over the weekend.

The forecast calls for a 40 per cent chance of showers today in the Okanagan with a high of 6 Celsius and snow levels rising to 800 metres by this afternoon. There is a 40 per cent chance of showers overnight with a low of 1 C.

Tomorrow will see a 40 per cent chance of showers in the morning, with a high of 6 C and a low of 0 C, with a 30 per cent chance of showers or flurries in the evening.

Temperatures will continue to drop over the weekend while skies begin to clear on Sunday.

The forecast calls for a cloudy day on Saturday with a chance of flurries, a high of 1 C and an overnight low of -2 C.

The cooling trend continues Sunday to slightly below seasonal norms, but skies will brighten up, with Sunday’s high of -1 C and low of -4 C under a mix of sun and cloud.

Monday’s high is expected to only reach -3 C under sunny skies, with an overnight low of -7 C.

The normal temperatures for this time of year in the Okanagan are highs of about 0 C and lows of around -5 C.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014.
