Winnipeg man charged with paragliding without licence in city limits

WINNIPEG – Winnipeg police have charged a 34-year-old man with paragliding without a licence in the city limits.

A police helicopter spotted the man on Thursday.

Const. Eric Hofley says the charge may seem harsh, but using a powered parachute within the city can be very dangerous.

He says airplanes are always landing and taking off from Winnipeg International Airport.

He says anyone who is within that airspace is expected to be licensed and know exactly what is going on.

He says the man had been warned before by Transport Canada.
