Kamloops cops deal with 2nd suspicious object in a week

KAMLOOPS – It was just last weekend Kamloops RCMP were called to a downtown alley to investigate a suspicious object, and on Saturday, suspicious object number two was found near the Overlanders Bridge.

RCMP say at about 3:40 p.m. they responded to a report of a suspicious item next to the off ramp from the bridge onto Tranquille Road.

The police were forced to close down the off ramp while they investigated. Almost six hours later, the area re-opened to traffic.

“There were no homes nor businesses affected,” Staff Sgt. Lane Jumaga says in a media release.

Jumaga says the matter remains under investigation.

Kamloops RCMP sealed off an alley downtown on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, and closed and evacuated a nearby business for several hours. The item was later “deemed not to be suspicious,” police said.
