ORLANDO, Fla. – An injured manatee rescued by SeaWorld Orlando has given birth at the central Florida attraction.
The manatee had severe injuries to one flipper from a crab pot line and fishing line wrapped around both front flippers when it was rescued in Brevard County last month.
The marine mammal gave birth Wednesday at SeaWorld Orlando.
Park officials tell the Orlando Sentinel that mother and calf are doing well and being monitored by SeaWorld staff.
SeaWorld has rescued 12 manatees this year.
Manatees are an endangered species.
