Police in Spain arrest 7 in child pornography case

BARCELONA, Spain – Spanish police say they have arrested seven people for allegedly exchanging child pornography online after they discovered a cache of thousands of abusive images.

Police were alerted by a company that specializes in the recovery of data from damaged computers, which had found images of sexually abused children on a client’s hard disc. Police said the disc contained over 27,500 illegal images of 478 victims along with videogames that simulated the sexual abuse of children.

The owner of the material was arrested in his home near Barcelona.

Four others were arrested in Barcelona, including one British man working as an English teacher. The other two arrests were made in other parts of Spain.

Police say they are also investigating the possible implication of three more people.
