KELOWNA – A contest to benefit either a family in need or a local non-profit group will award the winner a restored Ford Explorer, along with $1,000 toward insurance.
Three companies including the Royal Sun Alliance insurance group, Craftsman Collision and BCAA joined forces to give away the almost-like-new 2010 Ford Explorer.
The RSA donated vehicle was hail-damaged and restoration was courtesy of Craftsman's autobody technicians and painters.
"When RSA approached us with the idea, we jumped at the chance," President and founder of Craftsman Bill Hatswell said in a media release. "This project suits us perfectly. We're more than happy to contribute our time and skills to someone in the Okanagan who really needs this vehicle."
The three companies urge anyone who knows of a family or non-profit in need of tansportation to nominate them on a special page set up on the Craftsman Collision website.
Applications and nominations will be accepted until Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2014.
The Explorer will be awarded Monday, Dec. 22, 2014.
