LA’s Music Center Plaza reopens after $41 million renovation

LOS ANGELES – The downtown Los Angeles Music Center’s plaza has reopened to the public after two years and a $41 million renovation.

Civic and community leaders declared the 36,000-square-foot (3,344.5-square-meter) space “the plaza for all” at a grand reopening ceremony Wednesday.

The makeover is the plaza’s first since The Music Center opened in 1964. The renovations doubled the occupancy of the space from 2,500 to 5,000 people and added new restaurants with outdoor dining.

Music Center President and CEO Rachel Moore also announced a $12 million gift to The Music Center to launch the TMC Arts Fund, which will broaden access to the arts for all communities of Los Angeles through public programs, education and dance.

Several events are planned throughout the week to honour the reopening.
