Grief counsellors available: classes resume at school boy attended before killed

EDMONTON – Staff at an Edmonton school attended by a boy who was murdered along with most of his family says he was “deeply loved.”

A statement released by Bishop Greschuk Catholic Elementary School says Elvis Lam was especially close to the teachers and children in his Grade 3 class.

Eight-year-old Elvis, his mother, grandparents, aunt and young cousin were shot to death at a house in northeast Edmonton on Dec. 28.

Phu Lam, who was married to the boy’s mother, also killed two other people before ending his own life.

Court documents suggest Lam had a history of domestic violence and had been upset since he found out two years ago that Elvis was not his biological son.

Grief counsellors were at the school and a memorial service was being planned.

“We will continue to pray for all,” said the release signed by staff.
