Locally-made board game gets celebrity endorsement

KELOWNA – A board game created by two Kelowna locals recently got a star-studded endorsement for their product.

The turn-based board game is an officially sanctioned spin-off of the popular Canadian comedy mockumentary television series The Trailer Park Boys. The show was created by Mike Clattenberg for the Showcase network and follows the misadventures of a group of trailer park residents in Nova Scotia.

Series stars Mike Smith, Robb Wells, Patrick Roach and John Paul Tremblay took time from touring in Ontario to help promote the game that was created by two long-time friends and gamers from Kelowna.

Dave Phelps and Derek Hodgins spent more than five years designing and organizing production of the game, which became available to the public earlier this year.

“We are really pumped that the (Trailer Park) Boys made this video for our game,” said co-designer Derek Hodgins. “We heard how much they liked it but to see it firsthand was awesome.”
