Plenty of chances to see North Okanagan-Shuswap federal election candidates in action

VERNON – It's a chance to get up close and personal with the federal election candidates in the North Okanagan-Shuswap riding and ask them burning questions.

The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce is holding an all-candidates debate on Tuesday, Oct. 8 giving the public a chance to have its voice heard by those looking to become the riding's next member of parliament.

Members of the Greater Vernon Chamber will have the chance to meet the candidates one-on-one before the doors are opened to the wider public and the debate begins. The event is being held at the Vernon and District Performing Arts Centre.

Doors will open to the public at 6:30 p.m. and the debate will start at 7 p.m. Chamber members are asked to register in advance for the one-to-one. For more information go here.

Several other all-candidates debates are happening around the riding:

  • Sept. 25 – South Shuswap Chamber of Commerce and Sorrento Centre all-candidates debate, 6:30 p.m. Shuswap Lake Estates Community Centre, 2405 Centennial Drive, Blind Bay.

  • Oct. 1 – Independent Living Vernon – Focus on Canadians with disabilities all-candidates debate. 6 p.m. People Place 3402 27 Ave, Vernon.
  • Oct. 2 – Enderby and District Chamber of Commerce all-candidates debate. 6 p.m. A.L. Fortune Secondary School, 500 Bass Avenue, Enderby.
  • Oct. 3 – Sicamous Chamber of Commerce all-candidates debate. 6 p.m. Sicamous Seniors Centre, 1091 Sicamous Avenue, Sicamous.
  • Oct. 9 – Lumby and District Chamber of Commerce all-candidates debate. 6 p.m. Whitevalley Community Centre, 2250 Shield Ave, Lumby.
  • Oct. 10 – Salmon Arm Chamber of Commerce all-candidates debate. 6 p.m. Prestige Harbour Front Hotel, Salmon Arm.
  • Oct. 17 – North Shuswap Chamber of Commerce all-candidates debate. 5:30 p.m. North Shuswap Community Hall, Celista.
