Vocal surgery forces Michael Buble to postpone Governor General’s honour
Michael Buble says upcoming vocal cord surgery has forced him to cancel two events next month.
The Burnaby, B.C., native told his social media followers Wednesday that he will need time to rest and recover.
The pop crooner has backed out of singing at the Kennedy Center’s Marvin Gaye tribute on June 5.
Later in the month, Buble was scheduled to receive an award at the Governor General’s Performance Arts Award Gala in Ottawa.
He said the award will now be given to him next year, on June 29, 2017, during the gala’s 25th anniversary celebration.
Buble, 40, has 11 Juno awards and four Grammys to his credit.
He didn’t offer any further details on why he needed to undergo surgery.
“No talking or singing for awhile but my doctors expect a complete recovery,” he wrote.
Several pop singers have required vocal cord surgery in recent years, including Adele, Sam Smith and Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger.
