One injured after SUV drives through Salmon Arm, B.C., medical clinic
SALMON ARM, B.C. — A woman who was inside a medical clinic in Salmon Arm, B.C., was injured and brought to hospital after she was struck by a vehicle that drove through the building.
RCMP say the crash was reported on Thursday.
Officers, firefighters and paramedics attended the scene.
Police say first responders arrived to find a red SUV had “come to a stop against an interior wall, after completely entering the medical clinic.”
They say the driver was a 78-year-old woman who was assessed and determined to be sober and uninjured.
Const. Andrew Hodges says in a news release that “driver confusion” appeared to be the main factor in the accident.
“There was potential for a lot more injuries, or worse in this incident. We wish the one injured woman a full recovery,” he says in the statement.
