Court date pushed for man accused of killing teen

KAMLOOPS – The first appearance of a man accused of killing a 16-year-old teen found dead in Kamloops has been postponed until later this month.

Damien Lawrence Taylor, 22, is charged with second degree murder in the death of C.J. Fowler. He was arrested in Kelowna last week after more than a year-long investigation by Kamloops RCMP. Police told media Taylor and Fowler had been dating and travelled to Kamloops together, visiting from near Terrace, B.C.

Fowler’s body was found near Guerin Creek in Kamloops on Dec. 5, 2012 by a man walking his dog.

Police also said Taylor isn’t involved in any other active investigations. However, he has a criminal record that includes jail-time for drug and theft-related charges. He is expected to appear next on Jan. 27.
