Camera-equipped car takes photos of vandalism suspect at Kal Provincial Park

Vernon RCMP are asking the public for help identifying a vandal who caused thousands of dollars of damage to a vehicle parked in the Cosen's Bay parking lot in Kalamalka Provincial Park earlier this week.

While the vehicle's owner was mountain biking in the provincial park, June 16, a young male damaged every door and side panels, as well as the hood, trunk and the driver’s side window.

However, the vehicle was equipped with cameras that captured the vandal. The incident took place between 7 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. in the Cosen's Bay parking lot in Coldstream.

"The technology on some of these newer vehicles is actually amazing and the photos that were provided to us are very clear," Vernon RCMP Corp. Tania Finn said in a media release. "The suspect caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to this vehicle and we are hoping someone recognizes him."

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, approximately 18 to 25 years old, with short dark hair, and wearing an orange coloured tie-dyed T-shirt, dark-coloured shorts, and wearing black velcro runners with black socks and carrying a silver-coloured scooter.
