Lumby man will stand trial for school teacher’s murder
VERNON – A Lumby man accused of murdering his girlfriend, a local school teacher, will stand trial in Supreme Court.
Following a preliminary inquiry at the Vernon Courthouse last week, the judge ruled there is enough evidence to order Howard Everett Krewson, 55, to stand trial.
Krewson is accused of killing Vernon school teacher Linda Ross in June 2014 before shooting himself. He was transported to Kelowna General Hospital by air ambulance and survived the injury.
The alleged murder occurred in the 300 block of Trinity Valley Road just after 6 p.m. June 19. Police attended the property after receiving a report of a disturbance. According to the RCMP, Ross and Krewson knew each other and had been in a brief relationship. At the time, investigators were not aware of any previous calls to police.
