A New Chapter for Local News: infotel.ca is now iNFOnews.ca

Business Spotlight

If you’ve landed on this page and thought something looked a little different, you’re not wrong. Today marks a major milestone in our journey: infotel.ca is now officially iNFOnews.ca.

The name might be new, but the people, passion, and purpose behind it remain unchanged.

“We’ve been working behind the scenes for months to bring this vision to life,” says Marshall Jones, Managing Editor of iNFOnews.ca. “This isn’t just a facelift. It’s a renewed commitment to modernizing our platform while preserving the strong community journalism we’ve always delivered.”

Why the Change?

Since launching in 2012, infotel.ca has grown from a regional directory site into a trusted news source for the Okanagan and Thompson regions. Over time, the brand outgrew its original name.

“The new domain, iNFOnews.ca, better reflects what we do and who we are: a reliable, community-focused news outlet,” Jones explains.

The rebrand also comes with a fully rebuilt website featuring:

  • A faster, cleaner reading experience
  • Optimized performance for mobile and tablet users
  • Easier navigation to local sections like Kamloops, Kelowna, Vernon, and Penticton
  • Continued access to favourites like iNwine, iNhome, iNwheels, iNwordl, gas prices, and more
  • Improved site security and performance under the hood

Same Team. Same Stories. New Experience.

While the design has changed, readers can count on the same newsroom delivering hyperlocal coverage on the issues that matter most, from wildfire updates and council decisions to lifestyle stories and community profiles.

“All our archives dating back to 2012 have moved with us,” Jones says. “It was a huge technical lift, but an important one. Our full news record is now housed on the new site.”

The new platform also positions iNFOnews.ca to respond more nimbly to digital trends and community needs.

“We’re constantly evolving how we report and present stories,” he says. “This site gives us the tools to tell those stories more effectively.”

What’s Next?

For now, both infotel.ca and infonews.ca will lead to their individual sites. But over the coming weeks, redirects will guide all visitors to iNFOnews.ca as the primary home of the brand.

“We’re asking readers to update their bookmarks and help spread the word,” Jones adds. “And of course, we welcome feedback. This is a website built for the people who live here.”

The public launch follows a soft rollout and testing phase that involved staff, friends, and family combing through the new site to help iron out the final kinks. Now, the doors are open to everyone.

From all of us at iNFOnews.ca: Welcome home.

That’s very great news! Congratulations on the fresh new look for the site. It’s clean, modern, and makes keeping up with local news even better.

Marshall Jones

News is best when it's local, relevant, timely and interesting. That's our focus every day.

We are on the ground in Penticton, Vernon, Kelowna and Kamloops to bring you the stories that matter most.

Marshall may call West Kelowna home, but after 16 years in local news and 14 in the Okanagan, he knows better than to tell readers in other communities what is "news' to them. He relies on resident reporters to reflect their own community priorities and needs. As the newsroom leader, his job is making those reporters better, ensuring accuracy, fairness and meeting the highest standards of journalism.
