A woman in her 20s did not survive her injuries after an incident in Merritt over the weekend.

Paramedics were called to a woman in medical distress on Dec. 20, but the unnamed Merritt woman died at the scene, according to a BC RCMP news release.

Police said foul play is suspected and the regional major crime unit has taken over the investigation.

The news release did not name the victim nor specifiy whether her death at the 2000 block of Nicola Avenue is being investigated as a homicide.

Anyone with information can contact the major crimes unit at 1-877-987-8477.
