Southern Okanagan man charged with attempted murder

A 21-year-old Keremeos man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed another man with a knife.

Harpreet Singh Basra was charged the day after he allegedly tried to kill Gurjinder Singh, according to court documents.

Basra has also been charged with assault with a weapon for an attack on Rajhbir Lidhar the same day.

It appears the three men know each other because Basra was also charged with threatening Lidhar two weeks earlier and saying he was going to kill Singh.

Court documents show the attempted murder took place in or near Keremeos on Oct. 29, with Basra being arrested soon afterwards and charged the following day.

Details of what took place are not yet publicly known, and neither Basra nor Singh have a criminal record in BC.

The 21-year-old Basra was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in court again in the new year.
