Vancouver product Macklin Celebrini nets two points, Sharks double up Canucks 6-3

VANCOUVER — Vancouver product Macklin Celebrini had a goal and an assist, powering the visiting San Jose Sharks to a 6-3 victory over the Canucks on Saturday.

The 19-year-old centre extended his point streak to seven games with five goals and nine assists across the stretch.

Igor Chernyshov buried his first NHL goal and added a helper for the Sharks (18-17-3), while Ryan Reaves, John Klingberg, William Eklund and Collin Graf also scored.

Yaroslav Askarov stopped 24 of the 27 shots he faced as San Jose snapped a three-game losing skid.

The Canucks (15-19-3) got a power-play tally from Linus Karlsson and a short-handed marker from Drew O’Connor, and an even-strength goal from Marco Rossi.

It was Rossi’s first goal in a Vancouver jersey. The 24-year-old centre was acquired from the Minnesota Wild alongside winger Liam Ohgren and defenceman Zeev Buium as part of a blockbuster trade for star defenceman Quinn Hughes on Dec. 12.

Conor Garland and Filip Hronek each recorded a pair of assists for the Canucks, and Thatcher Demko made 31 saves as the team dropped a second straight game.
