18-year-old killed in Kelowna during Saturday night fight

An 18-year-old male died in Kelowna hospital as the result of the injuries he received during a fight between two groups of people Saturday night.

RCMP said at around 8:20 p.m., Jan. 24, officers were called to “an assault between two groups of individuals.”

The fight happened near Springfield and Benvoulin roads.

The 18-year-old was taken to Kelowna General hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

Officers with the serious crime united are investigating the circumstances leading up to his death.

“The investigation is in its initial stages and appears to have been a targeted incident,” Kelowna RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Steven Lang said in a media release.

“No further details will be released at this time.”
