Heavily-armed RCMP officers raided a home in West Kelowna last week that had been a constant source of complaints from neighbours.
Following a two-month investigation, officers with the emergency response team and West Kelowna drug section executed a search warrant at a home on Applegreen Court, Feb. 4.
RCMP said it had received numerous complaints from neighbours pointing to criminal activity at the home.
Eight people were detained during the raid and one man was arrested on other charges not related to the search warrant execution. RCMP didn’t say what those charges were or if the eight people arrested at the property were charged.
Officers seized more than 200 grams of drugs, drug trafficking equipment, weapons and ammunition. RCMP didn’t say what kind of drugs were seized other than that they were illegal.
“We take residents concerns seriously and take enforcement action when warranted,” Cpl. Bryan Mulrooney with the crime reduction unit said in a media release issued today, Feb. 9.
“Removing drugs, weapons and trafficking activity from this property makes a meaningful difference for the people who live nearby.”
The investigation is ongoing and RCMP said it may provide further updates.
If you suspect illegal activity in your neighbourhood you’re asked to call West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
