PRINCE GEORGE – The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Prince George Cougars 4-2 on Friday night in Prince George in the first of three straight games between the two WHL BC Division rivals.
Damon Severson and Justin Kirkland each had a goal and an assist and Jackson Whistle had another strong outing, stopping 35 of 37 shots to earn the win.
The victory moved the Rockets record to 48-8-0-4 on the season, becoming the first WHL team to reach 100 points on the season.
Ryan Olsen and Marek Tvrdon also scored for the Rockets, who fell behind 1-0 early in the second period, after a scoreless first period.
It was the first of two straight games in Prince George and three in a row as the teams will play Saturday night in Prince George before returning to Kelowna to play Tuesday night at Prospera Place.
