TORONTO – Thanks to UFC president Dana White, lightweight Joe (J-Lau) Lauzon has a unique souvenir of his bloody UFC 155 loss to Jim Miller.
The 28-year-old from Bridegwater, Mass., tweeted that White had given him the blood-stained canvas from the Dec. 29 card in Las Vegas.
“It’s going on the wall,” he tweeted, referring to his Lauzon MMA gym.
“That mat looks like a mob hit!” tweeted one of his followers.
Lauzon, who is known for exciting fights, had a nasty gash opened above his right eye in the first round against Miller and bled profusely throughout the 15-minute bout. Miller won by decision.
Lauzon earned US$92,000 on the night, including a $65,000 fight of the night cheque. The bonus was the 12th of Lauzon’s UFC career, tying him with middleweight champion Anderson Silva for most in the organization.
