Sports jacket with blood seized from home of Richard Oland’s son, documents say

SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Court documents released today say a sports jacket with blood on it was seized from the home of Richard Oland’s son as part of the police investigation into the New Brunswick businessman’s death.

The documents, which are transcripts of testimony from a lead investigator in the case, say the brown jacket found in the home of Dennis Oland is a key piece of evidence in the investigation.

The testimony was given during an in-camera court proceeding in July 2012 but portions of it were made public today.

The documents say the blood was tested but the results of those tests are redacted.

Police in Saint John have said Dennis Oland is the suspect in the case.

No charges have been laid against him and no arrests have been made.

Provincial court Judge R. Leslie Jackson released the new information today following an application by the CBC and the Telegraph Journal to have it made public.

Richard Oland was found dead in his Saint John office on July 7, 2011.
