B.C. RCMP cancel Amber Alert, saying four-year-old boy has been located

WEST KELOWNA — Mounties in West Kelowna, B.C., have cancelled the Amber Alert for a four-year-old boy.

They say in a news release that the boy had been found safe in Vernon.

The RCMP issued the alert shortly after midnight on Wednesday after a report of a parental abduction.

They previously said the suspect in the disappearance was the boy’s mother.

Police say they received multiple tips from members of the public, which ultimately led to the child being found.

They say the investigation is ongoing, but Const. Ash Puri thanked the public, media and policing partners for their help.

“The public response to the Amber Alert generated multiple tips that proved valuable to the investigation and ultimately helped lead to the safe recovery of the child,” Puri says in the release.

“Everyone who shared information and remained vigilant played an important role in bringing this incident to a safe resolution.”
