Vancouver Rise sign leading scorer Jessica De Filippo to extension

VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Rise have locked up their leading scorer, signing striker Jessica De Filippo to an extension through 2027.

The Northern Super League club announced the news Friday with sporting director Stephanie Labbé saying in a release that the 25-year-old Canadian has developed into one of the league’s top players.

De Filippo has 11 goals and four assists for Vancouver this season, and is tied with Elyse Bennett of the Montreal Roses for first in NSL scoring.

She was named the league’s player of the month for August after tallying five goals and two assists.

De Filippo signed with the Rise ahead of the team’s inaugural season last year and helped Vancouver win the first-ever NSL championship in November.

The Montreal-based forward says in a release that she’s grown as both a player and a person since coming to the Rise, and is happy to continue her journey with the club.

The Rise (8-10-2) will look to tighten their grip on the league’s final playoff spot when they host the Montreal Roses (11-4-5) on Saturday.
