A significant portion of the southern Interior is under severe thunderstorm watch today.
Environment Canada issued issued the weather alert this morning, June 3, for the South Thompson – including Kamloops – the Okanagan – including Vernon, Kelowna and Penticton – the Shuswap – including Salmon Arm – the Nicola – including Merritt – along with the Boundary region.
The weather office warns that large hail and damaging wind gusts are possible, and that torrential downpours may result in flash floods and water pooled on roads.
Many Canadians are killed or injured by lightening strikes each year, so “Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors,” Environment Canada said.
