Residents of all ages gathered at the Kamloops Art Gallery on October 10 to explore what makes a neighbourhood feel connected, welcoming and alive.
The two-hour Craftivism: Thriving Neighbourhoods workshop was co-hosted by the gallery and Propolis Cooperative Housing Society.
Participants used maps, photographs, flyers, paper, scissors and other materials to create individual collages and zines while contributing to a larger collaborative artwork.
The workshop encouraged people to think about the places where they live and the features that help make a neighbourhood feel like a community.
The accompanying video captures participants working together, creating pieces and sharing ideas throughout the afternoon.
The larger collaborative collage created during the workshop will become part of an Open Gallery exhibition this fall.
Watch the video for a look inside the workshop and some of the creative work that came out of the afternoon.
