Cyanotypes with Ila Crawford |The Natural Business of Art Workshop
Cyanotypes with Ila CrawfordAbout this eventCyanotypes with Ila Crawford The first permanent photographs were made in cyanotype. Anna Atkins was one of the first to use this process in 1843, recording specimens of British algae in book form. John Herschel invented the process that creates these beautiful blue images. Participants in this workshop will collect samples of local plants and use them to create photographic silhouettes. Other ways to create negatives for use in cyanotype exposure will be demonstrated. Lyn Baldwin, botanist, will aid in identifying and collecting the plants while the group meanders the back lanes of Kamloops. Participants are welcome to bring plant material from home as well. Cyanotype prints easily incorporate the use of digital technology with the much older process of direct stencil printing. Happening June 5th from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. Cost $12. Supplies Included. Location: The Smorgasbord Deli, 225 7th Ave, Kamloops, BC V2C 3S8
