iN NUMBERS: Cannabis sales take a dive in BC Southern Interior

Sometimes it seems like there’s a pot shop on every block, so business must be booming. But that isn’t necessarily the case.

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch put out the figures for weed sales and the Southern Interior’s figures have dropped the most.

Here are the numbers:

165: Pot shops are in the Southern Interior, the same as last year and the most for any region in B.C.
18.5: Per cent. That was the drop in cannabis sales by units for the first few months of 2026 compared to 2025 in the Southern Interior.
6.5: Per cent. That was the drop in sales in dollars for the first few months of 2026 compared to 2025 in the Southern Interior.
29: Million dollars. That’s the value of cannabis products sold in the Southern Interior in the first three months of 2026.
1.8: Million units of cannabis products were sold in the Southern Interior in the first three months of 2026.
115,360: Dollars. That’s the total value of seed sales from BC Cannabis Wholesale for the first three months of 2026.
4.63: Dollars per gram was the average price for cannabis at the start of 2026.
4.84: Dollars per gram was the average price for cannabis at the start of 2025.
