Price of gas dips below a dollar in Salmon Arm
Looking for affordable gasoline in the Thompson-Okanagan region? Salmon Arm is the place to be, or driving through.
It’s the only place in BC where the price of gasoline has dipped to 99.9 cents per litre.
Fuel prices have been trending down across the country for a few months, but it’s rare to find such a low price price in BC. Since an initial global drop in prices at the outset of the COVID pandemic in 2020, British Columbians typically spend more than $1.30 per litre on gasoline.
The current drop in price follows changes in the global oil market, impacting drivers in Kamloops in the Okanagan as well.
Kamloops currently has the highest prices with all stations aside from Costco charging at least $1.31.9 per litre, according to GasBuddy.com.
The lowest prices in the Okanagan can be found in Vernon with $1.18.9, followed by Kelowna with $1.21.9 and Penticton with $1.26.9.
Those prices fall well below even this year’s average. Drivers in Kelowna have spent an average $1.47.7 per litre in 2025, while Kamloops drivers spent the most in the BC Interior with $1.50.8 per litre, according to the BC Utilities Commission.
The drop in price comes as winter demand expectedly falls and oil-producing countries boost their output, causing a dip in the global fuel price.
Whether or not the prices at BC pumps will continue to fall is unclear.
