Woman killed in crash on Highway 97 in Lake Country
A 27-year-old woman was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 97 in Lake Country Tuesday night.
Emergency crews responded to the collision at around 8:30 p.m., Sept. 1, on Highway 97 at Lodge Road, according to an RCMP media release.
Police said a northbound Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was turning left into a pullout across from Lodge Road when it was hit by a southbound Acura sedan.
Both vehicles were extensively damaged, RCMP said, and they came to rest in the southbound lanes of the highway which were closed for several hours.
Firefighters extracted the 27-year-old female passenger who later died in hospital from the injuries she sustained.
The woman’s identify has not been release.
RCMP and the Coroners Service are investigating, and both drivers are cooperating with investigators.
Alcohol isn’t believed to have been a contributing factor to the crash, RCMP said.
RCMP are asking anyone who witnessed the driving behaviour of either vehicle prior to the collision, witnessed the collision itself or has dash camera footage from the area around the time of the incident to contact Lake Country RCMP at 250-766-2288 and reference file number 2025-56924.
