Newest Kelowna craft brewery designed for The Office

The latest craft brewery coming to Kelowna’s Brewery District is asking the city to support its liquor licence application.

Called The Office Brewery, it will be in the new Clement Business Park next to Unleashed Brewing Company and is the latest addition to the North End Brewery District.

The Office Brewery features former Okanagan Mission Secondary School principal Bruce McKay as the head brewmaster.

“We want to foster a culture where you can go with your team after work, when we’re out of COVID,” general manager Dillan Crema, who is McKay’s nephew, told iNFOnews.ca. “You spend more time with these people, sometimes, than with your family. It’s like your second family.”

He’s hoping, as COVID restrictions ease, to have a soft opening in the spring or summer.

This is not modeled after The Office TV shows but is meant to be a bright, colourful place for people to gather for a wide variety of beer offerings.

Most of the beers will be in small batches so only a few hundred people will get to share the same taste experience, Crema said.

The plan is to have seating for 91, including 30 in the mezzanine, 32 on a patio and 29 inside. There will be “simple but fun comfort food” and local artworks on the walls.

Construction is well underway so just the licencing needs to be approved.

This is just another addition to the growing Brewery District centred around Richter Street and Clement Avenue.

“Whether you’re a dog person and go to Unleashed or you’re a dog person and want to come next door, I think it highlights the walkability and accessibility of having fresh local beer in your community,” Crema said.
